Keep time with military precision while adding a unique edge to your wardrobe with the Citizen Eco-Drive Men's Chronograph Canvas Watch. Featuring the clean look and the rugged dependability of a stainless steel case and bezel, this timepiece relies on the unique Citizen Eco-Drive movement system, so you never need to replace its battery. Eco-Drive is an advanced, technical system that uses a thin solar panel under the dial to convert light energy from any source into electrical energy used to run your watch. Also playing a key role in this unique system is a special energy storage cell that greatly increases the efficiency and dependability of using light as a power source. As an added benefit, Eco-Drive power doesn't utilize the harmful chemicals contained in traditional batteries, so it's an excellent environmental choice as well.

The watch features a black dial with easy-to-read Arabic numerals in white, a convenient date window at four o'clock, a slim second tracker on the outer dial, and three subdials that provide chronograph functionality along with the ability to track hours on a 24-hour scale. The dial is further offset with luminescent minute and hour hands and a sweeping red seconds hand. Even the cool canvas band on this watch offers ultra-detailed construction. In addition to featuring a sturdy buckle clasp that relies on steel-reinforced eyelets, the band is backed with leather, which provides added durability and results in a pleasant feel against your wrist. This versatile men's watch is water resistant to 330 feet.

*Charging information: Functions of this watch may not work correctly if the watch is not charged, or charged properly. Please see the full Technical Information.

To set the time *(refer to full-setting instructions here: Manual ):
  1. Pull the crown out to the time correction position when the second hand has reached the 0 seconds position.
  2. Turn the crown to set the time. The 24-hour hand moves in conjunction with the hour hand. Pay attention to AM and PM when setting the time.
  3. Securely return the crown to the normal position in synchronization with a telephone or other time service.

To set the date:
  1. Pull the crown out to the date correction position.
  2. Turn the crown to the right to set the date. The crown turns freely and the date does not change if the crown is turned to the left.
  3. If the date is set while the time on the watch is between the hours of about 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, the date may not change on the following day. If this happens, set the date after temporarily moving the hands to a time other than between the above times.

Using the Chronograph*:

The chronograph function of this watch is able to measure and display elasped time up to 59 minutes, 59 seconds in 1 second units. After 60 minutes have elasped, each of the chronograph hands automatically stop at the 12:00 position.

    Chronograph Timing:
  1. Start timing by pressing button (A). The chronograph is repeatedly started and stopped by pressing button (A).
  2. Pressing button (B) resets the chronograph to 0 seconds.
*Note: Do not subject the chronograph to strong impacts while chronograph timing is in progress. Subjecting the watch to a strong impact during chronograph timing or when the chronograph has stopped automatically after 60 minutes have elasped can cause the chronograph minute hand to shift out of position. If this happens, press button (B) to reset to the 12:00 position before using the chronograph again.

"Beautiful Watch - Small Strap" 2009-12-07
By Hai Le (Minneapolis, MN)
Definitely a beautiful watch and it took almost a full day for it to charge up and move off of the "2 second" low battery status. As other reviewers stated, the strap is very short. I have small wrists compared to most guys and it fits me perfect. Perhaps it would have made sense to pick from a short or long strap because I don't see how guys with big wrists can use this watch, they would have to get different Straps.

The straps itself is pretty cool, very low tech and rugged. Certainly will be in my collection of summer watches when wearing tee shirts.

"Not quite what I expected." 2009-11-02

Oddly this watch for all of its dodads lacks a second hand and date readout. I returned it for the lower yet more suited for my needs version.

 "A GOOD, HONEST WATCH" 2009-10-28
By Lawrence Cutler
Without doubt, this is a good, honest watch that offers EXCELLENT vaue for money. It is clearly a quality product and yes, it has CHARACTER in spades, as well as the appeal of Eco-Drive technology. It's a watch you can trust to take anywhere: accurate, reliable and strongly made.

The only pity is that, in my opinion, with a bit more thought and development, it could be a GREAT watch. So here are some constructive notes for Mr. Citizen in order to give this watch a truly 5-out-of-5 military form and function:

1. the bezel should have a brushed finished to match the case of the watch.(Non-reflective glass would be nice too.)

2. the minute hand should be longer - long enough to index right next to the minute markers for ultra-accurate, one-quick-look time keeping. (Same goes for its cheaper non-chrono sibling.)

3. the three main hands should be "tailless" as they obscure the subdials; the tail of the red chrono second hand, when at rest, permanently obscures the top of the minute subdial.(Oddly, its cheaper non-chrono brother has tailless hour and minute hands even though there's nothing to obscure on its simple face; work that one out.)

4. the date function is far too small; this is made worse by its depth. (If you don't have 20/20 vision and bright sunlight, forget it! Same for the sub-dials.)

5. the 24 hour sub-dial is a bit "so what". Having smaller 13-24 numerals next to the main 1-12 markers would be just as useful while cutting down on the cost of the movement.

6. the band is attractive and well made but not long enough to accommodate its target market, which is presumably men. The rivets start way too close to the watch (in fact, close enough to fit a very small child) but do not extend far enough the other way to accommodate many men's wrists. Ideally, both straps should be about 10mm longer, like Wenger Field Classic straps.(I don't have a bear's paw, but I used the last hole and removed the free-moving keeper. I eventually fitted a longer one-piece nylon velco strap. Pity, because the stock band really suits this watch.) Sure, as many people say, it's no big deal to fit a new band. But if a watch is marketed as a man's watch, it should fit most men!

Despite all this, there's LOTS to like about this watch. It feels right, it's substantial without looking like a silver hockey puck, it's accurate, easy to use and understated: it is what it is with no wanna-be "look at me" gimmicks. In fact, even its shortcomings somehow add to its character, so they become quirks rather than faults. Maybe four-and-a-half stars would be fairer!

 "Great Watch, Reliable Product" 2009-10-19
By Calvin (Singapore)
Highly recommended product for those requiring a fuss-free, solar-powered watch with a chronometer. I use the chronometer to time intervals of 15-30s in my work so this is perfect. The chronometer can go up to 60 min but really, situations that require such precision more than 60 min are extremely rare.

Ordered and received this watch from amazon without a hitch, watch arrived in original case, and within seconds of opening the box, started to move its second hand, hasn't stopped in the year plus I've had it, unlike all my other wristwatches (with the exception of the Casio) that have undergone several battery changes.

The band is decent, green canvas on a leather (or ?faux leather) material with reinforced metal buckle rings to enhance durability. My only peeve is that in my climate, such bands don't take to sweat too kindly, but this is more a climate limitation, as other reviewers have pointed out, the band is easily replaceable if you don't like it.

All in all an excellent product at a fair price.

 "I can't use the Chronograph" 2009-10-10
By Xiang Li
I got this watch yesterday. Today I try to use the Chronograph by the method said in the instruction book. However, no matter how I press Button A, the Chronograph second doesn't move even a little bit. I hope the seller reply me in two days, or I will return it.
